The project began life as a modest conversion of the existing nursery which originally took place in the Church Hall. Everything was rather run-down, with few improvements made since the 1950s. Substantial funding was then secured to create a new wing of accommodation providing a Surestart nursery, private consultation rooms, an adult training space and most importantly a new entrance with staff offices and an open kitchen.
The end result is a thriving and popular group of buildings which provide a focus for the local community, integrating young and old in a ‘state of the art’ facility. Users have remarked that they love the new building because it gives them a sense that they too are valued.
